Bosnia and Herzegovina: Becirovic, Filipovic and Cvijanovic lead presidency races

Updated preliminary results are now available following Bosnia and Herzegovina's general election held on 4 October. The Central Election Commission is continuing to process votes, meaning the figures are not yet final.
According to the latest available results, Denis Becirovic is leading the race for the Bosniak seat on the state Presidency. Darijana Filipovic is ahead in the contest for the Croat member, while Zeljka Cvijanovic has received the highest number of votes in the race for the Serb member of the Presidency.
As counting has progressed, the picture has become clearer than it was in the first reports on election night. The latest preliminary figures put Becirovic above 210,000 votes, Filipovic above 109,000 and Cvijanovic above 288,000.
Technical problems and delays were reported at some polling stations during election day. Where voting began later than scheduled, polling stations remained open for longer so that voters could still cast their ballots.
The presidency result is particularly important because Bosnia and Herzegovina is represented by a three-member collective Presidency, consisting of one Bosniak, one Croat and one Serb member.
All figures remain preliminary until the Central Election Commission completes the count, carries out the required checks and formally confirms the results. Further changes are still possible while processing continues.
