Croatia: Expressway section toward Koprivnica now due by 23 December

A new expressway section between Krizevci and Klostar Vojakovacki in Croatia is now expected to be completed by 23 December 2026. The section is approximately 7.5 kilometres long and forms part of a wider plan to improve the road connection toward Koprivnica.
The completion date has been postponed again. The contractor, Kamgrad, requested an extension because of work on the external drainage system under difficult hydrological and hydrogeological conditions.
The investor and supervisory service of Hrvatske ceste has agreed to the new deadline. The contracted value of the works is about 30.6 million euros excluding VAT, and Hrvatske ceste currently does not expect that amount to be exceeded.
When construction officially began in October 2022, the project was expected to take 30 months, which would have meant completion during 2025. The new December 2026 deadline therefore represents a significant delay compared with the original schedule.
Planning is also continuing for the next section toward Koprivnica. The longer-term aim is to improve regional connectivity and reduce pressure on existing roads.
